Caption:  This chart shows the habitat composition as percent of length of six reaches of the Russian River in Alexander Valley in 1998 above, within, and below two areas subject to gravel skimming operations. Optimal salmonid habitat is more than 40% pools (CDFG, 1998). Percent pool habitat measured less in reaches downstream of gravel skimming. Data published by the Sonoma County Water Agency.
