Topic Fish: Presence/Absence of Coho in Central Coast Region 2000-2002

Caption:  This chart shows a summary of the presence/absence of coho salmon young-of-the-year in streams in north portion of the California Department of Fish and Game's (CDFG) Central Coast Region that took place in the years 2000-2002. The numbers shown on the chart bars indicate the number of streams in each region in which surveys always, never, or sometimes found coho. The chart indicates that coho salmon populations are most persistent in the Eel River (Mendocino County), Western Marin, and the Central Mendocino Coast. This chart contains data from a draft CDFG database, and there are likely other historical coho streams that are not included in this list. Absence data are provisional pending more extensive study, because coho may exist in some streams but only occur in some years or may have resided in other reaches of streams not surveyed. See InfoLinks for more information.
