Habitat: Maximum Pool Depths in Upper E Austin Cr and Tribs 1996 |
|
Caption: This chart shows the maximum depth of pools measured during California Department of Fish and Game habitat typing surveys in upper East Austin Creek and its tributaries in 1996. Streams in the chart are sorted by Strahler order (with larger streams at the top), and reaches are numbered upstream beginning at stream mouths. Approximately 75% of the pools in upper East Austin Creek are greater than 3 feet deep, which is to be expected in a third and fourth order stream. With the exception of East Austin and Sulphur Creeks, most of the pools are less than 3 feet deep. Pools deeper than three feet are preferred habitat for juvenile coho and older age steelhead.
