Fish: Salmon Population Estimate, 1981-2000 |
|
Caption: The chart above shows the estimated return of adult Chinook and coho salmon spawners to the Mattole River from 1981 to 2000. Adult escapement of both species is believed to have dropped below 100 fish in 1989-1990, and has only partially recovered to levels seen in the early 1980s. The data is based on annual synthesis of spawning surveys and counts at the temporary fish weir. Although these sources vary in effort and accuracy, the data represents the best available information on salmon population trends in the Mattole basin. Data provided by the Mattole Salmon Group.
