KRIS Humboldt Bay: Picture Page
Area | Freshwater Creek-Ryan Slough |
Topic | Fish: Downstream Migrants Graham Gulch 1997 |
Click on image to enlarge (131K). This photo shows Graham Gulch at the site of a restoration project that used large logs to create scour pockets. It is apparent that the stream has an over-supply of sediment and that pool habitat is limited. This is consistent with downstream migrant trap samples being dominated by steelhead. Steelhead can survive in the small isolated pools such as the on in the photo.
