KRIS Garcia River: Meta Information Page
This page contains detailed information about a data set in KRIS, including where the original data reside and how to contact the sources for the data. Data sets are linked to the appropriate page by means of the Meta Identifier. Many data sets can be linked to same page by sharing the same Meta Identifier.
Meta Identifier | sed_char_m |
Type of Data | Garcia tributary McNeil sediment sampling data, using wet sieve methods |
Originator | Charlotte Morrison |
Description | Wet sieve McNeil data were collected by Charlotte Morrison both as an independent biological consultant and for Coastal Forest Lands as part of their Sustained Yield Plan. Data were collected for the upper mainstem Garcia, Mill Creek, Redwood Creek (trib of Mill), Inman, Signal, and NF Garcia. samples were taken from 1994 to 1996). |
Area | Garcia River |
Metadata Date | 4/13/03 |
Metadata Contact | Patrick Higgins |
Contact Person Primary | Charlotte Ambrose (Morrison) |
Status | complete |
Access Constraints | No electronic data available. Sediment samples not found in paper for all areas. |
Lead Person | Pat Higgins |
Lead Organization | IFR |
Notes | Data from Inman, Signal and Redwood Creeks were transcribed from reports. Raw data were available for Inman and Redwood while only summary (average) data were provided in paper. |

Maint. and Update Freq. | One time only? |
Purpose | To determine habitat conditions for salmonid spawning. |
Data Quality Information | Data were analyzed using wet-sieve methods, which also includes weight of water. Two locations with four samples per location provide an index of sediment conditions but the sample size is small. |
Use Constraints | These data do not provide enough sampling representation to be considered as definitive information on salmonid spawning conditions in the creeks surveyed as a whole. Morrison used 4.0 mm not 6.4 mm as the sand-sized sieve, so under-represents sand. |
Supplemental Information | Reports from Morrison on the Maillard Ranch (1994), Inman Creek (Morrison, 1994b) and Signal Creek (Morrison, 1996). |
